The best tips

Did you know that storms can cause a chemical reaction to occur in your swimming pool water? A thunderstorm can suddenly cause the chlorine to disappear from your pool. Lightning converts oxygen (O2) to ozone (O3), which reacts with the (free) chlorine in the pool water. That reaction causes the chlorine to evaporate and disappear from the pool water extremely quickly. If the pool water contains insufficient chlorine, algae is free to grow, causing the water to turn green.

With this in mind, you should always test your pool water after a storm. If the chlorine level is insufficient, a chlorine shock treatment is the most effective way of preventing algae formation. It is also important to test the pool water again following the chlorine shock treatment so that you can verify that the level is correct. Read the packaging carefully before use to ensure that the dosage is correct. For more tips and advice, you can read our blogs
